Our 5 Step Process

MHD Builds has developed a thoughtful process that allows us to adequately capture your preferences and project goals.

 

 

Step 1 – Consultation

Begin your journey by submitting a description of your project, along with photos and any available drawings, through our quote request form. We’ll then schedule a phone consultation to thoughtfully discuss the finer details of your project, including:

  • You and your family’s needs
  • Your desired scope of work
  • Our design and construction process
  • Potential budget
  • Estimated timeline

This call typically lasts around 30-60 minutes.

 

Step 2 – Design & Development

In this crucial phase, we collaborate with you to shape your project, meticulously curating every detail essential for its successful completion. The cost of this phase depends on factors like the project’s scale, complexity, involved trade partners, and your involvement in finish selections. We’ll discuss these details during your initial call.

Throughout this thoughtful process, we offer:

  • Utilization of team members and trusted partners, including designers, architects, and engineers
  • On-site meetings with mechanical trade partners (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) for accurate cost assessments
  • Creation of a detailed scope of work
  • Assistance from our Selection Coordinator in choosing materials and specifying finishes
  • Confirmation of electrical layout and lighting locations
  • Production of cabinetry design and layout

Upon completion, your final Design & Development presentation will feature:

  • Architectural drawings (if applicable)
  • A design board highlighting selected finish materials
  • A detailed quote based on your selections and layouts
  • Architectural Renderings (if applicable)

This thorough initial process ensures a smoother construction experience and reduces production time through focused collaborative planning. Typically completed within 4-6 weeks for smaller interior projects and up to 4-6 months for larger additions and whole house renovations, it sets the foundation for successful project execution.

Step 3 – Construction Preparation

With clear plans and defined costs, it’s time to prepare for construction. In this phase, we will:

  • Finalize the construction agreement to solidify project details
  • Collect the deposit and initiate initial material orders
  • Determine construction schedule with estimated delivery dates, ensuring a streamlined process
  • Discuss our on-site hours, tailoring our schedule to align with your preferences
  • Engage in detailed conversations about expectations during our presence in your home, covering job site safety, addressing your concerns, and ensuring a transparent and collaborative working relationship

This phase marks the transition to the realization of your project, where meticulous planning meets the anticipation of bringing your vision to life.

 

Step 4 – Construction

Embark on the most dynamic phase with minimal hassle:

  • Our seasoned craftsmen begin work, approaching every detail with precision and artistry to ensure your dream takes shape exactly as envisioned
  • With all elements in place, we dive into constructing your space efficiently
  • We prioritize your family’s comfort during our presence in your home, striving to minimize interruptions to your daily life. This includes minimizing dust and debris and being mindful of other unique requests
  • We provide you with a schedule so you can track progress and important milestones
  • Regular job meetings to keep you informed of all work progress, any possible changes and review any questions you may have

Step 5 – Enjoy Your New Space!

Once construction is finished, we’ll do a walkthrough together to ensure everything is exactly the way you want it. We understand that sometimes you don’t spot things until after we leave, so we’ll contact you after our final walkthrough. We’ll also check in again a year later to make sure you’re still loving every inch of your new space!

We offer a 1-year warranty on all workmanship.
